RTEMS has become fairly large :).

In comparison to building previous versions, building RTEMS is slow, but that's the tradeoff to pay for simplier and safer configuration.

If using Cygwin, remember that Cygwin is emulating one OS ontop of another -- this necessarily must be significantly slower than using U*nix on the same hardware.
